Weather Company Data

Use Weather Company Data for IBM Cloud to integrate weather data from The Weather Company into your IBM Cloud applications. This service lets you retrieve weather data for an area specified by a geolocation. The data allows you to create applications that solve real business problems where weather has a significant impact on the outcome.

Hourly or daily forecasts

You can request an hourly weather forecast for the next 48 hours starting from the current time, or a daily forecast for each of the next 3, 5, 7 or 10 days starting from the current day. You can request these daily forecasts with daytime and nighttime segments or with morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight segments. Forecasts include the forecast narrative text string of up to 256 characters with appropriate units of measure for the location and in the language requested.

Weather alerts

You can get government-issued weather alerts, including weather watches, warnings, statements, and advisories issued by the National Weather Service (US), Environment Canada, and MeteoAlarm (Europe).

Current conditions and historical data

You can retrieve observed weather data (temperature, wind direction and speed, humidity, pressure, dew point, visibility, and UV Index) that is collected from observation devices worldwide, plus a weather phrase and a matching weather icon. You can also retrieve weather data from site-based observation stations for both the current day and up to 24 hours of past observations starting at the current date and time.

Location and almanac services

You can use location services to look up a location name or geocode (latitude and longitude) to retrieve a set of locations that match the request. You can retrieve historical daily or monthly weather data sourced from National Weather Service observations stations from a time period spanning 10 to 30 years or more.
